ANIME HEAVEN:
Was war deine Inspiration für Ihr neues Lied KATAWARA und hat es eine Bedeutung für Sie?
What was your inspiration behind your new song KATAWARA and have this some meaning for you?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich habe mit dem Regisseur des Animes darüber gesprochen, wie man mit traditionellen japanischen Instrumenten die Welt des Animes „Sengoku Youko“ zum Ausdruck bringen kann. Wir haben uns entschieden, ein Lied mit japanischen Elementen zu kreieren, das mehr als nur ein typischer japanischer Rocksong sein sollte, sondern mehr als nur ein einfaches Lied. Unser Ziel war es, eine neue Art japanischen Sounds zu kreieren, indem wir japanische Instrumente in einem modernen Stil bearbeiteten und sie mit digitalen Klängen verschmolzen.
I was talking with the director of the anime about using traditional Japanese instruments as a means of expressing the world of Anime „Sengoku Youko“. We decided to create a song with Japanese elements that would be more than just a typical Japanese rock song, but rather something that would be more than just a simple song. As a result, we aimed to create a new type of Japanese sound by editing Japanese instruments in a modern style and fusing them with digital sounds.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Wie lange dauert die Arbeit an einem neuen Song im Durchschnitt? Hilft dabei die langjährige Erfahrung oder geht es immer darum, ins Unbekannte vorzudringen?
How long does it usually take to work on a new song? Does the years of experience help, or is it always a matter of reaching into the unknown?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Der erforderliche Zeitaufwand hängt vom Inhalt der Gestaltung ab, aber es gibt nichts, was nicht auch während eines geplanten Arbeitstages erledigt werden könnte. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass ich nach 20 Jahren Erfahrung keine Hemmungen mehr habe, den Bildern, die ich im Kopf habe, Gestalt zu verleihen.
The physical time required depends on the content of the arrangement, but there is nothing that cannot be done during a scheduled work day. I have the impression that after 20 years of experience, I no longer have any hesitation in giving shape to the images I have in my mind.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Wie unterscheidet sich Ihre Arbeit mit Stereo Dive Foundation von denen anderen musikalischen Projekten und Kooperationen?
How does your work with Stereo Dive Foundation differ from your other musical projects and collaborations?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Der Produktionsprozess selbst ist nicht viel anders, aber das psychologische Verantwortungsgefühl ist anders. Manchmal wird Musik von STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION in den Referenzen aufgeführt, wenn wir Musik liefern, und das gibt mir ein komisches Gefühl. Alle Arbeiten beeinflussen einander und führen zur Entwicklung von Fähigkeiten.
The production process itself is not that much different, but the psychological sense of responsibility is different. Sometimes STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION music is listed in the references when we provide music, and it makes me feel strange. All the work influences each other and leads to skill development.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Welche Pläne hast Du für die Zukunft der Stereo Dive Foundation? Gibt es neue Projekte oder Kooperationen, auf die wir uns freuen können?
What are your plans for the future of Stereo Dive Foundation? Are there any new projects or collaborations that we can look forward to?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich plane, mein drittes Album zu veröffentlichen. Ich würde auch gerne mit anderen Künstlern zusammenarbeiten. Ich möchte die Erfahrung machen, etwas zu erschaffen und dabei dem Klang unschuldig gegenüberzustehen, so wie als Kind.
I am planning to release my 3rd album. I would also like to do collaborations with other artists. I want to have the experience of creating while facing the sound innocently like when I was a child.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Hast Du Pläne, mit einem neuen Album oder einer neuen Single eine neue Richtung einzuschlagen und einen neuen Musikstil wie beispielsweise Rap oder Metal auszuprobieren?
Do you have any plans to take a new direction with an upcoming album or single and try out a new style of music, such as rap or metal?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich habe Musik in einer ziemlich großen Bandbreite von Genres gemacht, daher habe ich derzeit kein Verlangen, etwas Bestimmtes zu machen. Das Musikgenre wird oft bis zu einem gewissen Grad durch den Anime-Bezug vorgegeben, aber ich mische oft andere Genres hinein, sodass ich in diesem Sinne sagen kann, dass ich mich jedes Mal selbst herausfordere, einen neuen Stil zu kreieren. Was mir irgendwie in den Sinn kam, war, wenn ich so kühn sein darf, ein elektronisches Instrumentalstück.
I have made music in a rather wide variety of genres, so I have no desire to make something specific at this point. The genre of music is often set to some extent by the anime tie-in, but I often mix other genres into it, so in that sense, I can say that I am challenging myself to create a new style every time. What somehow came to mind was an electronica instrumental, if I may be so bold.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Angesichts der großen Zahl aktueller Anime-Titel ist diese Frage wahrscheinlich schwer zu beantworten, aber mit welchem Anime würdest Du deine Musik gerne begleiten?
With so many anime titles currently out, it’s probably difficult to answer this question, but which anime would you like to accompany your music with?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich würde gerne Musik für Anime mit coolen und stylischen Bildern von Kampfszenen machen.
I would like to make music for animations with cool and stylish images of battle scenes.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Welche Hürden müssen Einsteiger deiner Meinung nach überwinden, um erfolgreich zu werden bzw. zu bleiben?
In your opinion, what hurdles do newcomers have to overcome in order to become or remain successful?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich denke, es ist wichtig, dass man nicht aufhört, das zu mögen, was man tut, und dass man fleißig lernt. Wie das Sprichwort sagt: „Gleiches ist gleiches ist gleiches“, und Gefühle werden an den Empfänger weitergegeben. Was man denkt, ist wichtiger als die Art, wie man wahrgenommen wird. Ich bin auch der Meinung, dass diejenigen erfolgreich sein werden, die keine Mühe scheuen, das zu lernen und zu verfeinern, was sie lieben.
I think it is important not to stop liking what you do and to study hard. As the saying goes, “like is like is like,” and feelings are conveyed to the receiver. What you think is more important than how you are perceived. I also feel that those who can spare no effort to study and refine what they love will be successful.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Wenn Du für einen Tag Ihren Job wechseln könnten, ohne dass dies Konsequenzen hätte, welchen Job würden Sie jetzt gerne machen und warum?
If you could change your job for a day without consequences, what would be the job you would like to do right now and why?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich würde dann gerne Gärtner werden. Ich bin derzeit Hobby-Gärtner und züchte in meinem Garten und in meinem Studio verschiedene Pflanzen. Besonders interessiert mich der Agavenanbau, den ich vom Samen bis zum Setzling züchte, um ihn auszuwählen. Ich kreuze und säe auch Haworthien (Anm.d.Red.: Haworthia ist eine Pflanzengattung aus der Unterfamilie der Affodillgewächse.)
I want to be a gardening farmer. I am currently into gardening and grow a variety of plants in my garden and in my studio. I am especially interested in growing agaves, and I grow them from seed to seedling for selection. I also crossbreed and sow Haworthias.
ANIME HEAVEN:
Was denkst Du über KI in der Musikindustrie und kannst Du dir vorstellen, KI zur Inspiration oder als Werkzeug zu nutzen?
What do you think about AI in the music industry and can you imagine using AI for inspiration or as a tool?
STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION:
Ich glaube, dass die Entwicklung der KI verschiedene Veränderungen im Produktionsprozess mit sich bringen wird. Wir erwarten, dass KI zu einem Werkzeug wird, das Engpässe im aktuellen Produktionsprozess beseitigt. Zum Beispiel Stimmbehandlungen für Live-Mixe mit großen Sängergruppen. Auch Spurorganisation, Stem-Export und Dateiverwaltung. Das sind der physische Teil, der nicht am kreativen Prozess beteiligt ist. Dann gibt es die kreativeren Aspekte, wie Automatisierung, die bei der Simulation von Live-Instrumenten mühsam sein kann. Ich denke, es ist eine Frage der Fähigkeiten der Person, die es zur Inspiration nutzt.
I believe that the evolution of AI will bring about various changes in the production process. We expect that AI will become a tool that will eliminate bottlenecks in the current production process. For example, vocal treatments for live mixes with large groups of singers. Also, track organization, stem export, and file management. It’s the physical part that is not involved in the creative process. Then there are the more creative aspects, such as automation, which can be tedious when simulating live instruments. I think it’s a question of the skill of the person who uses it for inspiration.
